Cruises in Scandinavia & Fjords

A European cruise in the stunning Fjords is in a category of its own. A series of inlets in western Norway, are made up of both lush and snow-capped mountains, and glaciers. Many cruise lines are unable to take you for an inside look at the inlets, but you can still get a fantastic experience with a larger cruise ship.

Celebrity, Costa, Cunard, Fred Olsen, Hapag-Lloyd, Holland America, MSC, Orient, P&O, Princess, Royal Caribbean International, Seabourn, and Swan Hellenic all have European cruise itineraries that involve touring the fjords of Norway. Itineraries change all the time, and all of the cruise lines are adding new destinations and ports of call on a regular basis.

Your cruise through Norway’s fjords will probably center on the city of Bergen, where many of the smaller ships begin their route to the Kirkenes. While in Bergen, find your way to Borgund Stave Church, one of the most unusual medieval churches in Norway. Cruising the fjords will take you through picturesque villages like Hellesyit, Geiranjer and Bear Island.

Most European cruises that include the fjords also include ports in Scandinavia and other northern European cities, such as Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki, London (Dover), Glasgow and St. Petersburg. You will find several cruises that begin and end in Amsterdam, traveling through cities in Scandinavia and the fjords along the way. Amsterdam offers you a delightful walk through over the myriad of canals on the narrow streets of the Jordaan district. Don’t miss the Koninklijk Paleis and the Rijksmuseum.
